Christmas Cookie Cutter Dog Treats

The candy cane is a classic Christmas shape and the perfect form for dogs to enjoy. These cookie
treats are easy to make and children will love to mush and roll the cranberries into strips.
Because these baked goods are wonderfully fresh, please store in refrigerator and give as treat within 5 days or freeze.
Ingredients
- DELUCA DOG AND FRIENDS ALL NATURAL OATS & CHEDDAR SPOON & BAKE DOUGH FOR DOGS AND/OR DELUCA DOG AND FRIENDS ALL CLASSIC PEANUT BUTTER SPOON & BAKE DOUGH FOR DOGS.
Dried Cranberries (Never use raisins as they are toxic to dogs.)
Directions
- Thaw the spoon & bake dough until it is firm but chilled. (Peanut Butter dough needs to be very cold when you are working with it, as it becomes sticky as it warms.) It is best to roll cookies in small batches.
Keep additional dough chilled in refrigerator.
- Preheat the oven to 325ºF.
- Take 1 Tablespoon of dough for each cookie and roll it until it is about 4 inches long.
- Place on baking sheet.
- Curve top down to form handle of each candy cane.
- Mush together approximately 5 dried cranberries and roll them to form each stripe.
- Place cranberry stripes on cookies to create the candy cane stripe design.
- Baking times will vary (between 8 -15 minutes) depending upon the cookie cutter size and shape you used. The bottom and top of cake should be golden brown. Check if done with a toothpick, insert into center of cake. If it comes out clean it is done.
- Remove cookies from baking sheet and let cool completely (the cranberry strips will harden to cookies as they cool).
When finished place all unused dough back in the freezer for future use. |
