Ingredients
- DELUCA DOG AND FRIENDS™ ALL NATURAL OATS & CHEDDAR SPOON & BAKE DOUGH FOR DOGS (Recommended For Use As The Helmet Shape.)
- DELUCA DOG AND FRIENDS™ CLASSIC PEANUT BUTTER SPOON & BAKE DOUGH FOR DOGS (Recommended For Use As The Football Shape.)
- 1/4 Cup Finely Grated Cheddar Cheese (Decorates Up To 6 Football Cookies)
Directions
- Thaw the spoon & bake dough until it is firm but chilled. (Peanut Butter dough needs to be very cold when you are working with it, as it becomes sticky as it warms.) It is best to roll out cookies in small batches. Keep additional dough chilled in refrigerator.
- Preheat the oven to 325º F.
- Sprinkle rolling surface with flour and rub flour onto the rolling pin to prevent the dough from sticking. Add more flour as needed to prevent sticking.
- Roll out dough evenly to maintain a uniform thickness of approximately 1/4 inch to ensure even baking.
- Cut out cookies with cookie helmet and or football cookie cutters. For best results dip cookie cutter into flour and shake off excess before each cut.
- Place helmet and football cookies on separate baking sheets as their baking time varies.
- To decorate football helmet shapes—use a wooden skewer or chop stick and make small round holes in a paw print design on the helmet.
- To decorate football shapes—roll grated cheddar cheese to form seven small balls (about the size of marbles). Roll out two of the balls into thin ropes to fit across the ends of the football. Roll out the remaining balls into shorter ropes to make the center stitching design.
- Bake the football helmet cookies for approximately 5–8 minutes until the edges of the cookies are light brown.
- Remove helmet shaped cookies from baking sheet and let cool.
- Place cookie sheet of football shaped cookies in the oven. Bake for approximately 5–8 minutes until the edges of the cookies are light brown and before the cheese decoration on the cookies over bakes.
- Remove football shaped cookies from baking sheet and let cool.
When finished place all unused dough back in the freezer for future use.
